Year 6 to Year 7 Transition
Starting high school is an exciting milestone for students and their families. Our Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Program and information is designed to help students feel confident, connected and ready for the next stage of their learning journey. We work closely with students, families and primary schools to ensure a smooth and positive transition into our school community.

Our Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Program
We offer a range of transition opportunities to help students feel confident and connected as they prepare for high school. From transition days with local primary schools and peer support programs to parent information sessions and school tours, our transition program is designed to support both students and families every step of the way.
Transition Days
Our three transition days, held throughout Term 4, provide Year 6 students with the opportunity to experience life as a high school student before they start Year 7. Working closely with our local primary schools, we invite students to visit our school and become familiar with their new learning environment.
During these days, students can:
- Explore different subject areas and participate in a range of learning activities
- Meet teachers and key staff members
- Become familiar with the school grounds and facilities
- Build friendships with other students who will be starting Year 7
- Develop confidence and excitement about the move to high school
Peer Support Program
Our Peer Support Program helps students feel welcomed and supported from the moment they begin high school.
Year 10 students are trained as peer support leaders and work closely with incoming Year 7 students during transition activities and throughout their first year of high school.
The program provides opportunities for students to:
- Meet their peer support leaders during transition days
- Build positive relationships with older students
- Participate in team-building and group activities
- Receive support during the Year 7 and 11 Camp in Term 1
- Feel connected to the school community from day one
Parent Information Session
Starting high school is an important transition for families as well as students. Our Parent Information Session provides an opportunity to learn more about our school and what to expect in Year 7.
This session is held during the second transition day for students.
Families can:
- Learn about school routines and expectations
- Gain information about learning, wellbeing and support programs
- Ask questions and discuss any concerns
- Connect with other families joining our school community
School Tours
We encourage families to visit our school and see our learning environment firsthand.
We offer:
- A school tour early in Term 2 for incoming Year 7 families as part of the transition process
- Personalised school tours throughout the year by appointment
- Opportunities to explore our facilities and learning spaces
- Time to meet staff and discuss your child's transition needs
School tours provide parents and carers with the opportunity to explore our school, meet our staff and learn how we support students to thrive academically, socially and personally throughout their high school journey.
Year 7 and 11 Peer Support Camp
Held early in Term 1, the Year 7 and 11 Peer Support Camp is an important part of our transition program. The camp provides students with the opportunity to strengthen connections with their Year 11 peer support leaders while building friendships with their fellow Year 7 students.
Throughout the camp, students participate in a range of activities designed to:
- Build positive relationships with their peer support leaders
- Develop friendships within the Year 7 cohort
- Strengthen teamwork and communication skills
- Build confidence in a new environment
- Create a sense of belonging within the school community
The camp plays a valuable role in helping students feel connected, supported and settled as they begin their high school journey together.
Getting Ready for High School Guide
The NSW Department of Education's Getting Ready for High School guide is a valuable resource for students and families preparing for the transition to Year 7. It provides practical information about school routines, learning expectations, wellbeing, organisation and other important aspects of high school life.
We encourage parents, carers and students to explore this guide to gain a better understanding of what to expect and how to prepare for a successful start to high school.
